Welcome to Ministry Moments! Each month, we will look at the ministry of a specific Mission 3 staff member. Our prayer is that, by reading this, you will have a sense of what the Lord is doing at the school and ways to partner in prayer with and for the staff.
Our Ministry Moments begin with a person whose name and servant-heart are synonymous with M3A – Jerri Ballard. Most families interact with Jerri in an administrative way through her duties as Deputy Headmaster. She connects with many students in a teaching capacity from kindergarten through high school. What you may not know is that Jerri is heavily involved in some of our after-school ministry programs.
Spark is a high school ministry that meets generally every other Tuesday from 4:30-7, changing for holidays and other extenuating circumstances. Spark is open to any high schooler who wants to attend. They do worship, Bible study, and have a meal together. The location has changed this year to Little Prairie Christian Church.
Another ministry open to any 8th grade through college student is Forge. It meets once a month at Little Prairie as well. Students get together for fellowship while playing games such as dodgeball and volleyball. There is also a devotion brought by a variety of believers throughout the community.
The M3Lead Team is the ministry that was formerly called M3D. The objective is servant leadership development. M3Lead is open to 7th-12th grade Mission 3 students, with applications due on August 19. The theme verse of the year is Mark 10:43. There is a monthly meeting, studying the book of Joshua, and a mandatory retreat to Love Packages. Rides home from the monthly meetings are available.
This year we are excited to have school-wide chapel once a quarter. The Monday Chapel will be from 12-12:20. On these days, K-2 will stay over to attend chapel with 3rd- 8th grade. The Tuesday Chapel will take 20 minutes of the first class period for the high schoolers. More communication and dates are forthcoming.
Our elective times for high school on Tuesdays have also changed. Last year, we dictated what the students were doing and when. This year, we are offering a variety of classes that are open to all high schoolers. The electives offered this year are: PE, Psychology, Dating, Community Ministry, Digital Productions, Debate, and Home Ec. The dual credit classes available are: Composition, Speech, and American Literature Since 1855.
We are enthusiastic to begin a new year! As Ms. Jerri stated, “Proclaiming Jesus is our main objective.” As our theme for the year states, we expect a yield as we yield.
